China F1 Grand Prix 2007
I start this preview with Alonso’s speech said after the Japan Formula 1 Grand Prix:
“Of course, it is a difficult situation for me now in the championship; however, I will keep fighting until the end - as last year’s Championship battle showed anything can happen.”
I think we all hope that will be a tough fight until the end of 2007 F1 Championships. In this moment the difference between Hamilton and Alonso is only 12 points. I admire the Mercedes team this year, because the cars problems was not a reason for race retirements. From 15 races in this year Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton got points in 14 races each. Alonso retire in Japan GP after he hit the walls, and Hamilton finish on #9 at Nurburgring.
The worst position gained by Hamilton this year was 5th at Istanbul where he got 4 points, and the Alonso’s worst finish was the #7 position twice, in both Canada and France race. They are constant drivers this year, and this made difficult to predict the winner.
I forgot about Kimi, because the gap is too big. It is sad that I have to say this, but Kimi can win only if the Mercedes or his drivers fail to finish in points in both remaining races, although mathematically he has a chance and we have to mention it.
Let’s get back to China GP, and go back to the past race and see what statistics says about this circuit. The first race was on 2004 won by Barrichello, 2005 won by Alonso and last year won by Michael Schumacher.
