Boston Celtics is back to business
In May 24, 2008 at The Palace of Auburn Hills (Detroit) more than 22,000 attendance people (and many millions basketball fans around the world) hoped that their NBA team Detroit Pistons should win the 3-rd playoff game against Boston Celtics.
There was nothing like that.
The Boston Celtics crashed the Pistons with 94-80 and breaking the playoff-ice with their first win in this NBA playoff. Almost all players from Celtics had a positive contribution (according to the NBA statistical formula) in the game. The Boston’s leaders’ were K. Garnett +21(22 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists) and R. Rondo +18 (12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists).
On the other hand none of the starters from Detroit had a positive contribution (according to the same basketball formula). The Pistons’ worst players were C. Billups -25 (6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) and T. Prince (4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists). It was obvious that Chauncey Billups had a bad game after aggravating his right hamstring injury two days before in game 2. When 2 minutes and 16 seconds left in the 4-th quarter, R. Wallace was OUT with 6 fouls.
The largest lead had Boston Celtics with 24 points when James Posey hit the second free throw (with 0:55 left in the 3-rd quarter). Detroit Pistons lead the game once with 2 points when R. Wallace make a tip in (with 1:52 left in the 1-st quarter)
If Chauncey Billups will not recover quickly, the Pistons will have to watch the 2008 NBA final on TV.
Hard times will come for Pistons’ coach Filip Saunders. I’m sure he misses now the basketball player Ben Wallace.
